I’ve loved to cook since I was little. There’s something about taking random ingredients and turning them into something cohesive and delicious!
About a year ago my sister was diagnosed with food allergies (gluten, soy, dairy, and eggs) after years of struggling with not feeling her best. The diagnoses was both good news, and bad. Although now she knew why she never felt good, food became a source of stress.
Like most families, a lot of our traditions are set around food. Our family tried to adapt our traditions, but being new to food allergies it was pretty hard. Food tasted bland. It was basic. And for someone who used to love food, it was unsatisfying.
I now spend my weekends meandering through the grocery aisles and reading labels. I love finding ways to make our family favorites “allergy free.”
Although I don’t eat allergy free 100% of the time, I have tried to adapt my lifestyle to be more allergy friendly (and I’ve noticed a difference in how I feel too!).
This blog is my way of sharing my culinary experiments and hopefully sparking a little creativity for any foodie out there with food allergies…or who just wants to eat a little cleaner.
